We’re absolutely chuffed that the GVB wrote an article about Faces on the Ferry for their website. The GVB is the public transportation system for Amsterdam, which includes, of course, our beloved ferries. Read the article [in Dutch] here.
Our friends at Amsterdam Calling made this lovely 5 minute documentary about Rachelle and Faces on the Ferry. The film is shot on location at the AGA LAB, where the prints were made, the NDSM Treehouse, where Rachelle has her studio, and of course, on the ferry itself.
The Faces on the Ferry website is live and kicking, so we are celebrating with a giveaway. This set of 12 postcards is being sold in our Etsy shop for €10, but could be yours for a share and a song.
Our Kickstarter for Faces on the Ferry: A Year in images was fully funded on 23 June, 2018. This enabled Rachelle to go forward with preparing the winter and spring images as digital illustrations and screen prints, and also to return to the ferry to harvest sketches for the summer and autumn collections. We received so much amazing support! The GVB (Amsterdam transportation agency) hung our posters up on all seven ferry lines.
Several articles and interview were written about the project.
Hiraeth Magazine: Fellow artist and friend Rowena Dring interviewed me for Hiraeth Magazine. I think this article has a special angle since we talked about being immigrants and artists, and how that affects our work.
Gumclub: Pontje Varen, Mensen Tekenen, written by fellow illustrator Jaqueline Storm [in Dutch].
The Crazy Mind: Faces on the Ferry – Interview with illustrator Rachelle Meyer, conducted by Zin Smith.
Co. Lab: My Act of Rebellion: Rachelle Meyer. Lovely interview by Lana Jelenjev, profiling me as an entrepreneur.
